Net to gross salary calculator

Tell us how much you want to take home and we will tell you the gross annual salary you need. Ideal for negotiating a job offer or a career move in Spain.

You pay tax where you normally live, not where your employer is based.

Estimate based on 2026 rules for the common tax system, the Basque Country and Navarre. Your actual withholding is set by your employer using your personal details and may vary with benefits in kind, variable pay, disability or adjustments.

How the reverse calculation works

Spanish income tax is progressive: the withholding rate changes with salary. That is why you cannot simply add a fixed percentage to the net amount. The calculator tries different gross salaries until it finds the one that, after deducting Social Security and IRPF, leaves exactly the net pay you entered.

Tips for negotiating your salary

  • Always negotiate in gross annual terms. It is the figure in the contract and the one companies use to compare candidates.
  • Ask about the number of payments. €30,000 in 12 or 14 payments is the same money per year, but changes what you receive each month.
  • Consider the extras. Health insurance, meal vouchers or remote work can be worth several hundred euros a year, and some have tax advantages.
  • Compare with the total cost. Also check how much your salary costs the company with the employer cost calculator.
